Surge impulse generators available up to 8kV cover a range from the standard "Combination Wave", which is required for most EMC and impulse tests, to high energy "Hybrid waves" defined for Telecommunications testing. Typical standard applications include IEC, EN and ANSI for power line testing, FCC, Bellcore, ITU and ETSI for telecommunications testing.
In addition the new Surge Platform can meet, product safety testing to UL standards and also ITE (Information Technology Equipment) requirements. A wide range of accessories from single and three phase CDNs up to 100A and telecoms coupling units, make these systems the most modular and flexible available.

Surge impulse generators over 8kV are designed for applications ranging from component testing and EMC tests through to Lightning simulation in radio antennas. Typical standard applications include IEC, ITU and ANSI for power line testing, ITU and UL for component testing and ETSI for telecommunications testing. Haefely EMC have modular systems, which allow the greatest flexibility in terms of changing impulse types and energy levels within a single instrument. As for the "smaller" generators (<8kV), these larger systems are microprocessor controlled from the front panel and also have the ability to interface with Haefely EMC Software packages.

A product range is available offering single phase 16Amp, three phase 32Amp, three phase 100Amp Coupling / Decoupling Networks (CDN) or a capacitive coupling clamp. EFT impulses from 100 to 8,000 Volts can be generated in 5 different modes including varying voltage and frequency. Applications include CE type testing to IEC and EN standards, telecommunication testing to Bellcore and ETSI standards and product development where the programming flexibility can help locate design problems.

Capable of performing single phase tests up to 16A, Haefely EMC Technology offers complete solutions to perform mains interrupt, dips, voltage variation, frequency variation, plus emission measurements of mains flicker and harmonic content. Applications range from CE type testing to IEC and EN standards and telecommunications testing to ETSI.

Products are available offering solutions from single impulse air discharges to multiple repetition contact discharges covering the range 200V to 30'000Volt. Applications covered include CE type testing to IEC and EN standards and automobile testing to ISO standards. In addition, discharge modules are available to meet a broad spectrum of requirements and can also be built to meet customer specific needs.

Power Frequency and Impulse magnetic fields can be generated using standard Haefely EMC Technology's test equipment and coil antennas to suit the test equipment dimensions.
